Something different today...

Happy Friday, are you ready for a 3 day weekend?  I am!  School is now officially over for the summer, now on to bbq's and summer fun!  We usually kick off the memorial day weekend with the opening of our pool.  This weekend will be filled with some good food, pool opening and hopefully some house projects getting completed.  Of course Monday we will take time out to remember what memorial day is all about.

Today I also want to share with you a card I created with a QKR Stampede train stamp.  I have used this image before for a fathers day card.  Today I am bringing you something a little different.  I paired this image with some beach/Hawaiian print paper.  I wasn't sure what the outcome was going to be, but I gotta tell ya I am pleased.
The stamp I used is a train stamp by QKR Stampede.  The paper is from a stack by DCWV called Tahiti beach stack.  I love the colors of the stack!  And I think this worked out really great.

This button was one from a pair of pants I retired.
Here is the inside of the card.
I cut out some of the flower design paper for a nice accent to the inside of my card.

Thank for stopping by today and have a wonderful weekend! JennK

Scrappin' Thursday

Today is the first day of Summer break for my kidos!  It also happens to be Thursday which means it is time for another Scrapbook challenge on The Pink Elephant!  This week the challenge is to create a Summer theme page.  This is just in time to get us all hyped up and ready for the FUN summer days ahead.

I decided to scrap this picture from last summer of my handsome little guy.  He had such a blast playing with this bucket on a warm summer day.  I used up some Summer Soiree papers and a vivid blue piece of cardstock for the base.  Added some real hand-stitching a few flowers and a sun stamped with a Unity stamp.  The letter stickers are Thickers and Adornit. I also added some raindrops from Cloud9.  To finish it all off I added some journaling to the bottom.  I really wanted to print my journaling on a piece of acetate with white ink on my printer, but my printer was giving me a fit so I gave up on that...heheheee...sometimes these machines can get the better of me...grrrr.

Here a re a few close ups...

So there ya have my summer inspired page.  Now I wanna see what you come up with for this challenge.  Get yourself on over to The Pink Elephant challenge blog and share your page with us.

Have fun!  JennK

Wild Flower Wednesday

Wednesday!  It is finally here!  YAY!!  Why am I so happy for today?  Well for starters it means I have a new challenge to share with you from The Wild Flower Patch.  Secondly today is the LAST day of SCHOOL!!  I keep singing " Schools out for summer.....Schools out foreva!" HAHAHAA!!  I think I may be more excited than the kids...okay it is probably a tie.

You are probably wondering what this weeks challenge over on The Wild Flower Patch blog is.....well it is all about being MONOCHROMATIC.  That's it....just create a monochromatic project of your choice and link it up before next Wednesday.

All I can say for my project this week is..."It's NOT easy being GREEN"...Famous words by a favorite frog.  I started out thinking that green would be great!  Still I do really like the card I created....but feel it is a little St. Patty day is all.  Nothing wrong with that...just not what I was going for....hehheee.
So...What do you think?  I used the Mad Hatter digi for this card colored in with Copics.  The papers are Basic Grey.

A little closer so you can see the coloring.

I would love to know what you think of my sample this week.  Also would love for you to join us on The Wild Flower Patch blog.  You might even win some great digi stamps of your own to play with.

Have a wonderfully crafty day!!  JennK

Wildflower Wednesday!

WOW!!  it is time for another Wildflower Wednesday challenge already!  This week is all about distressing. Use inks, tear some paper....distress it.  All the details can be found at The Wild Flower Patch blog.

I am calling this card Dreamer....I just LOVE this image Jen has created! The image is called "IRIS".  I of course had to step out of the normal brown, black, blonde or even red hair.  My girl is rockin' a Blue hair color!  Love it!  I used Copics to color the image and some stickles to add some sparkle to her hair and her top.  Next time I think I may try PINK hair!!  FUN!
Here is the inside of the card.  I used some Basic Grey papers throughout. And the a new Unity sentiment stamp.
I thought that this just went so well with this lovely girl.

I hope you get a chance to play along this week.

Scrappin Time!

Hello Thursday!  It is time for another Scrappin' challenge over at The Pink Elephant!!  And this week it is all about PINK!!  Yes, all you have to do is create any Scrapbook Page Layout or mini Album! Use any size page layout; 6x6, 8x8, 12x12 or any size mini album as well!  Add some pink to it and you are in!

For my project I decided to do a page for my sweet Kitty!  I just Love her to bits...as you can probably tell form her very own page!  I had fun adding some pink elements....and green, Love that combo.I couldn't help myself...with her pretty green eyes.  So here it is the Kitty page!  I named Feline Friend.

I used a few papers from 2 different Basic Grey collections.  I Love to mix and match.  I also used some Basic Grey elements and my yummy distress ink.  The flowers were from my flower pile...and the ribbon is from my stash as well.

Here is a close up of my title.  I used some Hero Arts rhinestones. And a cute little kitty brad from around the block.

Another close up.  Love these little Basic Grey clips!

Here you can see my layered flower, some ribbons and a closer shot of the photograph I used.  She was sitting up on a counter in my scrappy room.  It was so cute because she started out sitting behind this panel of chiffon...next thing I know she was attacking it!  HAHAHAAAAA!!  She is too funny!  Love my little fur ball!

I hope you get a chance to play with us in this weeks scrapbook challenge.  Hop on over to The Pink Elephant for the rest of the dt creations and to link up your project.

Wild Flower Wednesday

It is already Wednesday again!  Can you believe how quick the days go by??  I feel like I blink sometimes and a whole week flies by!  Today I am bringing you a new challenge over at The Wildflower Patch.  I actually have two examples with this fun and easy recipe.  The recipe challenge is ribbon, sparkle and dimension!  Fun huh?!

The image I used on both my examples is from Jen's newest collection of cuties!  This one is called Flower Fairy Daisy.  I used Copics to color her in and the last of this yummy flower ribbon from American Crafts.

Here is a closeup of the coloring.
And a closeup of my sparkle...I colored some clear rhinestones with Copics to match.

Alright for this next card I was inspired by 2 challenges.  The first was The wild Flower Patch recipe and the second was the Burtonesque Dolls challenge.... Burton Chicks. Really simple; create a card, page layout, or project with a doll, heroine, or chick that you know would belong in a Tim Burton film!

So I think this next card fits into that category...

I had lot's of fun coloring her in to fit this theme...of a Burton Chick!

A few closeups for ya....

And the inside too!

These challenges were so much fun!  And guess what both you could win some Wild Flower Patch digital stamps for yourself!  YAY!!  So get out some paper and stamps and see what you can come up with.  Don't forget to get them linked up to The Wild Flower Patch and The Burtonesque dolls too!

See ya there!  Jenn K

A Bo Bunny challenge

It's Saturday and I had a little time to play.  I decided to pull out some Bo Bunny goodness and make a card for their flower challenge.  There are so many fun way to make paper flowers.

The way I made mine for this challenge was to first start out with a Bo Bunny cardstock sticker from life is a journey.  I used that for my flower center.  Next I cut strip of paper to make the flower petals.  Each strip was folded in half then attached to the back of the sticker.  I added a few pearls and a couple leaves to finish off the flower.

Here you can see the flower from the side.  I folded up the edges of some of the petals of the flower. and I added some stitching lines to the leaves.

Finally the inside of my card.  I like to embellish the inside to finish things off and hide things too.

Hope you enjoyed my little card.  Now I gotta go make lunch for the kidos and mop the floor....Boo, Hiss...I want to craft all day!!  heheheee...maybe later.

Hugs, JennK

Thursday, May 6, 2010

It is Thursday today and time for some Pink Elephant fun!  Today I bring ya a scrapbook layout all about me as a mom.  That is our theme this week.  In honor of all the moms out there!  Lets scrap about ourselves as moms, our moms or a mom that you think is great.  Check out all the details on The Pink Elephant Blog.

I really enjoyed creating this layout this week.  Of course I enjoy every layout, the process and the fun but, this layout was a little different.  This time I really tried to document my feelings as a mom.  The overpowering feeling of love and all things warm and fuzzy that comes with becoming a mom.  I also wanted the reader to know I am human and feel some bittersweet moments too, being a mom is not always sunshine and butterflies even though we want it to be  *smiles*  It is such a tremendous blessing and I am so grateful for the chance at the experience of being a mom.  Okay, I will get on with the pictures now.....
I

I used a sheet of butterfly paper from Paper Studio.  I do LOVE butterflies afterall, so I thought this had to be a part of this layout.  I also used some polka dot paper from MME.  The ribbon is from my stash.  I printed my thoughts on my printer on a piece of Kraft paper.  The flowers are all K&Co.  and the piece of Chipboard was painted by me and glimmer misted.  Oh and the beaded pin is by Making Memories..I added a few colored glass beads to it too.
Here are a few close ups...

I Love to hear your thoughts, so let me know what ya think of my latest creation.  I am very pleased with the final result.  I am also so glad I documented this for my kids and for me too.  Don't forget to check out all the other creations on The Pink Elephant blog if you haven't already.

Have a very Happy day! Thanks for stopping by, JennK
