Year 2010!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Here's to 2010! YAHOO!! Let the fun begin and new beginnings start!!

Hugs to all my Friends and family! Wishes for a wonderful Year ahead!

Remember that Yummy Nikki Sivils Monster stash I won?!! Well, I was able to do a few projects with it before the year was over....

First another Halloween Layout. I wanted to do a few pages of my boys close up of their costumes. I just LOVE how this paper coordinates So well!! I couldn't believe how great this worked out!!

Then I created this little Journal for myself. I am planning on starting an Art Journal this year. I think it will be a wonderful forum for my creative expressions. Just love this Fun paper too!! Thanks Nikki for Rocking some Awesome designs for me to work with!!

The inside of this Fun new journal. I used a piece of Kraft paper on the front and back pages. The pages are mixed. There is Watercolor paper, Lined paper, Graph paper and some plain white paper as well. I wanted to be able to paint, draw, collage, write...whatever I wanted to do without worry of the paper inside.

And finally the back of the book. What was really great is I not only got to play with some of my new papers but I also played with some new Shimmerz, glimmer mist and my Bind-it-all. Wahoo!! They all were so great I want to make more. I am asking for more time to Create this New Year!! LOL!! Hope I get it.

Birthday ahead..

Hello, today I want to share some invitations I made for my sons birthday party. He will be 10 years old!! WOW! I just cannot believe it. Since his birthday is in the winter we usually have to find fun indoor activities for him. This year we are going to be bowling, riding go-carts and playing some fun arcade games at an indoor adventure extravaganza!! LOL!! Should be fun for my son and a few of his friends. Here are the invitations I made for the big event.

I wanted to incorporate the bowling theme but also his love of Legos. I found this K&Co paper from a pad called Daydreams, I thought was just perfect. I also had a few Lego brads that did the trick. I think they turned out really FUN!! The wording on the front was done on the computer. Inside I stamped the who, what , when, where info stamp. Then just wrote in the details. On the envelope I use a stamp from Stampin up. Stamped with red ink. Hope the kids like them.

I will be back again soon hopefully with a new project, that incorporates my new Bind-it all and maybe some fun Nikki Sivils papers that I recently won!! Stay tuned.

Did you get any crafting items for Christmas??
I am so excited! I finally got a Zutter Bind-It-All!! and a Clip-it-up!!
YAY!! I will be so organized and able to make so many cool new things!! I have seen so many cute and creative uses for the bind-it-all. Now if I could get my work space cleared out a little. I need some room to CREATE!! LOL!! I will be sharing many fun new things SOON!!

I have a couple cards I created recently for the Smeared and Smudged dt. I recently received this stamp from Sweet Peas. I love it! So many uses.

The first card I used my Copics to color the image in. I used some BG chipboard pieces and papers. I also used a touch of stickles to the cats eye and the girls hair.
On the second card I again colored the image using Copics I also used some BG paper, some lace I stained with Glimmer mist, Balck chipboard and some rhinestones. I used Sakura Spica pen to color the lines on her dress.

I just love how both cards turned out.

I am off now to try and finish filling my Clip-it-up and clear out the clutter to start on a few new projects. Have a great day and don't forget to stop by on the 29th for my Die Cuts R Us project.

Hiya! What a whirl wind few days I have had. Seems like everyday gets busier than the last. So what have I been up to?? All sorts of Christmas related things. Baking, Creating gifts, buying gifts (yes I am still not done), wrapping all that fun stuff. Mix that in with other responsablities and I just don't seem to have enough hours in my day. I do have some YUMMY pictures to share with ya. Some holiday baking I have recently done. Remember those Holiday Trees cookies I posted a few posts back? I made them and they are YUMMO!! I also made some yummy chocolate kiss cookies and some delish cinnamon pinwheels. I of course tasted them all. I wouldn't want to send out bad cookies and I got to tell ya...I LOVE them all!! Here they are all packeged and ready to go.

Here is another box of goodies I made up.

This box I covered with a picture my son created for his teacher. I love the personal touch this gives. The inside goodies...

Double take!

WOW! 2 posts in one day?! I just couldn't wait to share my excitement!! So I was online last night before bed when I came across an e-mail from Glimmer Mist. Well, of course I had to open it, and it was to the new post on their blog. They had finally announced their new designer to join the team...none other than Heidi Swapp! Well, she has her own line of colors called “Exclusively Heidi by Tattered Angels".
They are so pretty!! I can't wait to get them and see all the other new colors as well. Plus, I am sure Heidi will be bringing some major awesomness to the dt!! Can't wait. So anyway as I am reading down the page at how all the clues were solved and such the announcement of the prize winners were there. Guess who won a set of Heidi's colors??!!! ME!!! I am on cloud nine!! I was dancing around in my pj's and everything!! I am still in shock that I won! Yay me!!

Alright enough of the tooting of my happy me train. I just wanted to share some really awesome news.

Hugs, JennK

ONLY 10 DAYS!!

Can you believe only 1o days remain before Christmas?!!! My kids are starting to bounce off the walls in excitement. My MIL sent the family a Christmas card and inside was a sentiment that was really sweet. It read...
"The great thing about Christmas is that lovely childhood dream of going off to sleep and waking in the morning to our hearts desire. What a wonderful world it would be if, every day, the morning itself was our hearts desire."

I thought that was a wonderful verse. It got me to thinking why can't we make the morning, the very fact we awake to a new day every day our hearts desire? It is all in the perception of your world. Why not make it the best we can? I would say I will make this my New Years resolution but, why wait till new years? Why not start today and before ya know it, it will just be a way of being.

Alrighty, enough of the deep stuff...lets lighten things up a bit.

I have a new layout to share with you. I am so happy I have gotten back to scrappin. I have been pretty busy with other projects lately I haven't scrapped enough.

This layout was done from some pictures of my boys last year with Santa. The papers are a combination of My Minds Eye, Cosmo Cricket and DCWV. I also used my Swiss Dots cuttlebug embossing folder and some Glimmer mist. You may be wondering how I embossed such a large sheet of paper with the embossing folder. Well, I gotta tell ya I used a ROLLING PIN!! LOL!! I sprayed my paper with the glimmer mist to add a little sparkle but to also moisten the paper a bit for easier embossing. I placed my embossing folder on the paper and just started rolling away. Moving the folder around till I covered the whole sheet of paper. I think the effect is just perfect.

Hope you enjoyed my page.

Holiday FUN!!

So is it just me or is there not enough December to get everything done? I came across a yummy cookie recipe I will be trying out this week. I want to share it with you.

The cookie is a YUMMY holiday tree. These delicious cookies are dipped in white chocolate….OUTSTANDING!!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup (1-1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 drops green food coloring
  • 1 egg white
  • 6 ounces white chocolate, melted with 1 teaspoon canola oil

Directions

1. Blend flour and salt in a small bowl. In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar. Beat in yolks, vanilla and food coloring. Stir in flour mixture until dough comes together. Divide in half; flatten into disks. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate 2 hours.

2. Heat oven to 325°F. Roll dough 1/4 inch thick on floured surface. Cut out trees; reroll scraps. Transfer to ungreased baking sheets.

3. Bake at 325°F for 10 minutes. Remove cookies from oven and brush with egg white. Return to oven; bake 4 to 5 minutes more, until shiny but not brown. Transfer cookies to rack to cool. Dip edges in white chocolate. Let dry on waxed paper.

Yummy right?!! I am on the prowl for a few more yummy cookies to make for a few holiday gifts. Let me know what your favorite is.

On to some cards...

This card I created for a challenge over on the La LA Land Crafts. This weeks challenge is to create with Pink and green.
I used some green cardstock and cut the card on the Cricut with the Joys of the Season Cartridge. Then I applied some clear contact paper to the back so the sticky side show through to the front. I then applied glitter to the sticky side in a dark pink. Cut the word Joy out in pink as well on the Cricut. Topped the ornament off with a bow.

On my next card I used some My Minds Eye and Cosmo Crickt!
The mug and mittens are cut with my Cricut using the Joys of the Season cartridge again. I used a sketch from over on the Skipping stones blog for the inspiration for this card. Love how fun this turned out!

Tune in again for more from my craft room!

BRRR!! Baby It's COLD!!

Sheesh..I was just fine with the 50's and sunshine. However Mother nature has other ideas and today it is FRGID!! Now I know it is not as cold as some places but, I have not had a chance to get used to this chilly winter weather. The high today is only 29 degrees!!! Feels more like -29 degrees to me.....LOL!! So I am just fine staying inside with all my crafty goodness in my warm and toasty craft room.

Okay enough complaining....I have some exciting news today also!! My crafty project a few posts again (you can see it here) Got picked as a TOP 3 over on Die Cuts R Us!!! WOOHOOO!! I am so happy and honored! Thank you for picking me as a top 3!!

I have a few things to share today too...:-)

First I created this sweet little Deer card. I had some left over scraps of some Yummy Reminisce paper to play with. I just have to use every last piece!
I also have been busy created a few layouts.

This one I used the Boyfriend line from Cosmo Cricket. Just love this paper too!!
I also used up some chipboard pieces from the Lil' Man collection and the ruled paper is from the Girl Friday!! I love how everything can coordinate together even from differnt lines!! Cosmo Love!

Okay this last layout I don't think I have shared before. If I have sorry for the repeat but, I love it so it is worth seeing again, RIGHT??
Besides if the weather has it's way we will be seeing some of this white stuff real soon. I say bring it on...let the snowball fight begin!! HAHAAA!! I know the kids are just dying to play in the snow. Maybe even get a snow day! Oh the joys of childhood!

Hello Sunshine!

So today looks like a beautiful Sunny day. Of course when ya step foot outside BRRRRRR!! It's cold out there. Well, today is the big Christmas parade downtown. It is a lighted parade so it won't start till 6 PM tonight. Bundle up! The kidos are all excited to go.

I finally got a few pictures this morning of the cards I made. One is for the Copic Color Challenge. One is a little edgy. But I think it is FUN! So what do I start with???

How about the Copic Challenge, The colors this week were:

And here is my card...

This is one of my most favorite stamps from Stampin' up! This little guy has probably seen better days, but he is alright...LOL!! I feel like this some days too.

Okay so on to my edgy FUN!

This stamp is from Stamp Insanity. I just love her! She is so sweet and sassy. I chose to use the sentiment "Who you callin' a Ho Ho Ho" but there are many others to choose from. I of course will not be sending this one to everyone....*giggles* but I know a few friends and family that would think this was funny too! I colored her in with my Copics and the used Spica pens and Stickles for the glittery parts. I used some Me and My Big Ideas papers. And a little ribbon from my stash. So what do ya think of her?? Fun? Sassy? I think a little of both.

Alrighty, I am off to finish up a few projects then on to the Christmas festivities here in town today. Have a great Saturday and the rest of your weekend.

Smeared and smudged

Welcome to my first posting for the Smeared and smudged! This group of gals LOVE the Vintage, Alternative, Gothic crafting. There is such inspiring alternative work here.

Today I bring you 2 projects.

The first project is an altered jar I created to hold my little ole' paperclips in style. This jar used to hold bouillon cubes..can ya believe it?!! I love repurposing things.
The pearls I colored with my Copics to darken them up a bit. I then sprayed the whole thing with Glimmer mist in Graphite. The paper is some stash of Webster Pages.

My second project is another vintage Santa. I just love working with these images. I used chalks again to color him in a little.
I also use a glitter pen around the outside in green. Used some fibers around my image. I think it gives this a wreath feel.

I hope you have enjoyed my first post for Smeared and Smudged. Come over and check out the site. The girls are just getting started with LOADS of inspiring projects for the alternative artist.

See ya soon, JennK

A few items...

Well, I have been busy creating today..YAY!! That always makes for a good day.

The first item is a card I created for the challenge over on Caardvarks...This was a color challenge. To see the color combo I had to use for the challenge go here. They call this a Micro Color Challenge because you only have a VERY short amount of time to get it done...HEHEHEE I am game. So here is what I came up with.

I used the urban prairie I had left from Basic Grey. I thought it matched the colors I had to use perfectly. The stamp is from Unity.

Another project I worked on today is a gift. I was so excited to see that Die Cuts R Us was doing their challenge around gifts right now. So guess what I am entering my project from today over there. I created this Note card box with a set of note cards inside.

I used the K&Co. Wild Saffron papers for this. I kept the same theme throught my entire project. I love it! Hope the recipient does too...HEHEE!

Here is a picture of the cards that are inside.

Wowzers that was a lot of fun! I am going to start working on a card purse soon with cards too. I will be giving it as a gift also. I have a few other ideas collecting as well. So stay tuned..LOL!!

Hugs, JennK
